Key Assessment Areas

  • Pre-Operational Checks: We rigorously evaluate the ability to conduct thorough checks on all critical components of the forklift – from forks and carriage to batteries and brakes, ensuring every part is in top working condition before operation.

  • Manoeuvring: Our assessment includes navigating the forklift through a challenging chicane/obstacle course, both forward and reverse, with and without loads, to test practical handling skills under various conditions.

  • Alignment: Trainees are tested on their precision in executing 90º turns in both directions, forward and reverse, demonstrating their adeptness in tight and active working aisles, tailored to the specific truck being used.

  • Transportation: We assess the ability to safely drive the forklift around the working area, tackling a range of real-life scenarios including ramps, uneven grounds, and different load types, to ensure comprehensive operational capability.

  • Stacking: Our trainees undergo thorough evaluation on their bulk stacking and de-stacking skills at different heights and in pallet racking, ensuring they can handle loads safely and efficiently at all levels.

  • External Transport: The assessment covers loading and unloading activities from various transports such as lorries, vans, trailers, or rail wagons, ensuring proficiency in a range of external transport operations.

  • End of Shift Procedures: We ensure each trainee knows how to conclude their shift responsibly – refuelling, safely parking the lift truck, applying the parking brake, checking for defects, and leaving the truck secure and ready for the next day.
