The aim of our First Aid training course is to provide the candidate with the essential knowledge and skill to perform his tasks to the highest level.
First Aid training courses last between 1-3 days depending upon the requirements of the participants (refresher courses, intensive courses etc.), with partakers developing essential skills like, health and safety, and accepted good practice.
During the course, participants will be encouraged to participate in practical demonstrations and exercises, as well as learning theory lessons to ensure their understanding of the material is comprehensive.

What is First Aid?
First aid is: help given to a person who has been hurt or is suddenly taken ill. First aid is the steps you can take before a person gets expert medical help. First aid can sometimes save a person’s life, but more often it is help given in an everyday accident or illness.

A) It includes staying safe yourself and looking out for danger, helping someone feel better and stay calm. It also includes getting help – either by telling an adult or phoning 999.

Pro Trainers UK follow a specific set of guidelines as determined to ensure your staff are trained to the highest standard. We utilise the following points to create an assessment report specific to the training course, creating confidence in knowing employees are competent in all course requirements.
Half Day Annual Refresher Course
In line with the revised First Aid Guidance issued on 1st October 2009* we are able to offer a half-day annual refresher course that is suitable for those staff who have completed either the three-day First Aid at Work or the one-day Emergency First Aid at Work courses. This is an ideal course to help keep your first aiders updated; it also provides an opportunity for them to ask questions to their instructor and peers.
The syllabus includes: Managing Incidents Examination of a Casualty Basic Life Support Unconsciousness Control of Bleeding Treating Shock
Emergency First Aid at Work
This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience and is ideal for lower risk businesses, in line with the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981. The course is run over one day and includes both theory and practical sessions, in a relaxed atmosphere, designed to boost a candidate’s confidence.
The syllabus includes:- First Aid Priorities Managing Incidents Basic Life Support Examination of a Casualty Unconsciousness Control of Bleeding Burns and Scalds Regulations First Aid Kits Recording and Reporting
Three Day – First Aid at Work
Once qualified, holders of this certificate can be used as First Aiders in the Workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience i.e. clerical or engineering staff. The course is run over three days and includes both theory and practical sessions.
The syllabus includes:-
First Aid Priorities Managing Incidents Basic Life Support Examination Unconsciousness Control of Bleeding Fractures Common Illnesses Burns and Scalds Heart Attacks Eye Injuries Dressings Regulations Recording and Reporting First Aid Kits
This certification is valid for three years*, before expiry a re-qualification course will need to be undertaken. We provide ample written notice to employers, informing them of when an employee’s certification is due for renewal. The re-qualification course takes place over two days

Automated External Defibrillation
We offer a comprehensive Automated External Defibrillation (AED) programme based on the necessary theory, backed up with lots of practical sessions. The course is run over half a day, and is made as informative, yet as enjoyable as possible, thus allowing the students to gain confidence in what is a new and possibly somewhat daunting skill. Certificates awarded upon successful completion are valid for one year.
Training conforms to current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines.
Paediatric First Aid Six Hour Course
This course is suitable for Nannies wishing to join the Voluntary part of the Ofsted Childcare Register (OCR). It is also suitable for Au Pairs, Babysitters, Parents and anybody who cares for children and needs a basic course. Delivered by paediatric specialists it includes both theory and practical sessions. This one day (6 hour) course is delivered at your venue. The OCR required syllabus covers such topics as:- Planning for first aid emergencies Dealing with emergencies Resuscitating Recognising and dealing with shock Recognising and responding appropriately to: · Anaphylactic shock · Electric shock · Bleeding · Meningitis and other serious sudden illness Responding appropriately to: · Burns and scalds · Choking · Suspected fractures · Head, neck and back injuries · Cases of poisoning · Foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses · Eye injuries Bites and stings · Effects of extreme heat and cold Febrile convulsions
Recognising and responding appropriately to the emergency needs of chronic medical conditions including: epilepsy, asthma, sickle cell, diabetes
Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the student, there is no final examination. Those students who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate that is valid for three years.
Paediatric First Aid Twelve Hour Course
This course is in line with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Local Authority Approved and meets the needs of Ofsted. It is suitable for Childminders, Nursery and School Staff (dealing with Foundation Stage) and anybody who deals with children and wants a more in-depth course. This two day (12 hour) course is delivered at your venue, by a paediatric specialist and includes both theory and practical sessions. The required EYFS syllabus includes:- First Aid Priorities Managing Incidents Basic Life Support – Adult, Child and Baby Choking Casualty Examination Unconsciousness Anaphylaxis Fractures Control of Bleeding and Shock Childhood illnesses including Meningitis and Febrile Convulsions Asthma Eye and Ear Injuries Burns and Scalds First Aid Kits Regulations Recording and Reporting
Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the student and a multiple choice question paper. Those students who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate that is valid for three years.
Emergency First Aid at Work & Automated External Defibrillation
We are able to offer the Emergency First Aid at Work course with AED (training conforms to current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines). This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience and is ideal for lower risk businesses, in line with the Health and Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981. The course is run over one day and includes both theory and practical sessions, in a relaxed atmosphere, designed to boost a candidate’s confidence.

Basic Life Support
This course can be adapted to suit a variety of audiences, from the complete novice to those who are skilled but feel their resuscitation skills need updating. Audiences range from parents, school staff and other first aiders through to dentists, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Resuscitation training normally takes place over three hours and includes the necessary theory followed by lots of practical “hands-on” practise to build confidence.
The syllabus includes:- The Theory of Resuscitation Incident Management Basic Life Support Recovery Position
The training is in line with the Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines 2010 and can be adapted to suit the client in respects to what age group they may be resuscitating, be it babies, children or adults.
